Carpenter Foreman

Description

West Point is currently seeking a San Diego resident with at least 5 years of experience as a Carpenter Foreman.

Responsibilites

As a Foreman, you will be responsible to plan, organize, schedule, supervise, and inspect the work of skilled and semi-skilled subordinates engaged in repair, alteration, and construction project work requiring the services of carpenters, brick masons, and other workers. Inspects buildings or other structures and items reported to be in need of repair; considers need for repair and estimated time and materials; requisitions materials and supplies. Establishes standards for safety and performance for subordinates and inspects quantity and quality of work against these standards. Lays out work as specified in drawings and blue prints. Maintains and reports material, labor, and time costs. Performs related work as required.

Construction Quality Control Manager

San Diego, CA

Description

Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) is responsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities of specific projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established contract standards.

The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g.: Project Managers, Superintendents, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a quality produce.

Responsibilites

  • Implement a Quality Management System to ensure compliance with quality standards and value added benefit to customers.
  • Provide engineering support for plants/materials, construction, and estimating teams during pre-bid, construction, and post-construction phases of the project to ensure all aspects of QC and design are met.
  • Conduct specification reviews, develop QC plans, and manage QC/QA subcontractors to assure timely project success.
  • Required to manage all Quality Aspects of a project both self-perform and subcontractor.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of construction standards and specifications for all agencies and municipalities.
  • Required to do project take offs.
  • Required to understand and facilitate project schedules.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate engineer, graduate architect, graduate of construction management, or an engineering technician with at least two (2) years of college.
  • ICC Certification as a Commercial Building Inspector with a minimum of five (5) years experience on construction projects.
  • Must have current Army Corps of Engineers QCM certification.
  • Must have OSHA 30-Hour or EM-385- 1-1 certification.
  • Be able to complete and pass background checks for access to government facilities.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean record.

Construction Superintendent

Description

This position is responsible for providing on-site “functional” supervision of projects (i.e. tenant improvements, structures, concrete, underground, etc.) or business unit.

Responsibilites

  • Supervise functional construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise and manage resources in order to make sure project objectives are met.
  • Supervise and direct field supervisors and other contractors to ensure productivity, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project are met.

Estimator

Description

This position is responsible for developing accurate and timely estimates for both private and public sector works projects to ensure West Point is a responsive bidder.

Responsibilites

  • Analyze and compile estimate data that impact the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location and other factors to ensure a high quality and timely estimate.
  • Review drawings and specifications and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
  • Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
  • Review take-off quantities to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates.
  • Utilize existing cost history to complete estimate.
  • Present estimate/bid to Senior/Chief Estimator for review to ensure accuracy and completeness.

A West Point Project Manager manages every facet of the assigned project(s), including the safety, organization, planning, scheduling, subcontractor scheduling, and day-to-day issues, in a manner that results in completion of a project on time, on budget, and a quality that meets or exceeds Patterson Horth and the customer’s expectations.

Responsibilites

  • Perform accurate project revenue and cost financial forecasting to ensure corporate profitability goals are met.
  • Coordinate with estimators and project controls group to establish budget.
  • Coordinate efforts with estimators, large project sponsor, and manager of construction to manage resources to meet project schedule.
  • Participate in bid review and bid closing to ensure accuracy of bid and evaluate project feasibility; work with estimating team to develop bid schedule.

Senior Project Estimator – Vertical Construction

The Senior Estimator manages the estimating department and partners with the Proposal Team in the development of a marketing program and generation of new business opportunities that ensures maximum exposure to new business prospects. Responsibilites

  • Lead capture teams in pursuit planning, issues identification and win themes, and the creation of persuasive proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Organize and coordinate the development of professional, well-planned and creative business solutions in response to client Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Qualifications (RFQs).
  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned

  • 10 years related experience if not degreed in a related field of study.
  • Minimum 5 years of Estimating for vertical renovation or new commercial building projects. (medical facilities, barracks, hangars, industrial buildings) between $500k to $15M
  • Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating software preferred
  • Experience with RS Means price data and software
  • Familiar with DoD and other government agency contracts.
  • Experience with P6 or other scheduling software
  • Experience in Bid-Build, Design-Bid-Build, and Design Build Projects.

Site Safety and Health Officer

Description

The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate regulations, policies, practices and strategies are followed. Investigate safety and health incidents and complaints. Evaluate the impact of contractual requirements, emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations.

Responsibilites

  • Conducting daily safety inspections.
  • Ensuring all site employees are complying with applicable safety regulations as well as company policy.
  • Reporting directly to the Corporate Safety Manager.
  • Attending the pre-construction conferences, pre-work meetings (including preparatory inspection meetings), and periodic in-progress meetings.
  • Implementing and enforcing company safety policies.
  • Ensuring sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements.
  • Working day to day with the Project Manager, Superintendent, Corporate Safety Manager, and field staff.
  • Monitoring employee compliance with the applicable safety requirements.
  • Conducting and participating in safety and health meetings.
  • Ensuring that Daily Safety inspection sheets are done for both the jobsite and any heavy equipment that will be used.

Requirements

  • Must have 5 years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing a safety program on contracts of similar size and complexity.
  • Have a current FA/CPR certification.
  • Completed 30-hour OSHA Construction safety class or equivalent within the last five years.
  • Must have documented an average of at least 24 hours of safety training per year for the past five years.
  • Must have 40-hour EM 385-1-1 certification.
  • QC management experience desired.
  • Must be able to pass and obtain background clearance to gain access on military installations.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screening.

General Laborer

Description

This position will need to have emphasis on metal handling (MCRD guardrail installation), concrete anchor installation (hammer drill), rigging materials with reach-lift (forklift certified or able to obtain), boom lift (man basket lift), safety and fall protection knowledge (or able to adhere), able to use grinder to remove metal handrails, concrete patch abilities, touch up painting and general construction knowledge.

The Construction Worker or Laborer position will be a project only position with the ability to grow with our operation for the most qualified candidate or candidates.
